Kia taps Augmented Reality app to promote During Australian Open - AppScout

All of you Aussies have DVR's right? If that's the case and you're watching the Australian Open, hit pause anytime you see the Kia logo and whip out your iPhone or Android device and scan the logo to check out some cool Augmented Reality features that lets users compare Kia car colors, view specifications, and turn lights on and off.
Of course, you need Kia Optima AR app from iTunes or the Android Market and be watching Channel Seven's Australian Open broadcast coverage, watching online via Yahoo!7's online portal or happen to see a Kia logo in the New Idea Magazine (sorry U.S. folks...wait). If you meet all of those requirements, you can use the app to trigger the animation to view all of the cool features.
You don't have to hold your phone over the logo to continue the animation either. Once it picks it up, you can move your phone away to a more comfortable position and check out the features.
Gerrit Walters, Brand and Advertising Manager, KIA Motors Australia, said, "At KIA we are continually looking to develop innovative ways to connect and engage with people. It's fantastic that we were able to launch this project to coincide with the Australian Open and we hope that people get excited about the ever growing options available to them to engage with brands."

Let's just hope U.S. brands are taking notice and plan on using AR to engage us in innovative ways.
